If you’re a fan of Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter or The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe or quite simply, you’ve always wished that you could meet an ever so special friend at the bottom of your garden, then, this has got to be a book for you!
The main character is Jack, a young teenager with his fair share of problems … bullying; parents breaking up; emotions running high and all that in the midst of first love!
Little did he doubt, that a ‘let’s get away from it all ‘visit to his Granny Jean’s would lead him to a magical, mysterious and totally unexpected meeting with Winfred, along with the learning of a ‘gigantically’ new language, which like all new languages took a bit of getting used to!
Thankfully, Granny Jean was there to help and like most other grandmothers, she had quite a few tricks up her sleeve. Circumstances meant that the time had come to share them all with Jack while leading him on an unforgettable, initiatic journey.
All in all, Jack Janson and The Storm Caller by Andrew Marsh is a wonderfully touching and highly entertaining book that I would not hesitate in recommending, be you young or old.
