The boost of a great review

As many of you know, I write in two genres and by and large I keep the blogs associated with each genre separate. This blog, Fendrelstale is for my fantasy faery stories and such like, predominantly my Trilogy (in draft) an the proposed follow on work, the second trilogy (in planning). Although, in this last 2 weeks I have started a completely different children’s book. More of that later.

The other genre I write in is hard hitting adult crime thrillers, most certainly not for children. Thrilling Writing is that blog and like Fendrels Tale Volume 1 it is “ready” for submission.

I have recently joined Goodreads and was approached by Dee Ann Waite to do a book review exchange. Her book, the Consequential Element is published and is on Amazon. It is a good book and I enjoyed it, giving it a 4 star review. Well, yesterday Dee sent me her review of Fendrels Tale Volume 1 and I am bowled over by it. I know there are some bits and bobs of housekeeping and work that a copy editor would help with, but she included this paragraph in her review:-

“Marsh has a beautiful way with descriptive writing. I enjoyed the images he drew with his words, and also the way he left just enough to be had with the reader’s own imagination. I felt the writing flowed smoothly and evenly and allowed me to envision the story as it unfolded in my mind.”

To say that I am pleased with this is an understatement. I am already looking for a good copy editor and once that is done will be ready to send it off and see what level of interest it brings in.

As writers, we can all be fragile from time to time, so to get such a boost from a review like that really gives you a pick up and confidence that there are people out there who think your writing is worth reading.

Thank you Dee.
